How to use Si3D Mat?

To achieve optimal results with Nanolex Si3D Matte, we recommend following the instructions below. We strongly recommend wearing nitrile gloves to protect your skin!

Cleaning

The paint surface to be sealed must be dry and free of dirt and dust.

Commercially available silicone, oil and wax-free paint cleaners or abrasive polishes are suitable for pre-treatment and preparation of older paintwork.

As a final step before applying the sealant, we recommend cleaning the paintwork with Nanolex EX.

Processing

Apply Nanolex Si3D Matte at temperatures between +5°C and +25°C / humidity <80% / strictly avoid direct sunlight during application. Apply 5–10 drops of Nanolex Si3D Matte onto a fine-mesh applicator pad and spread the material over the surface until no or very little residue is visible. Always work in small sections, as excess may otherwise not be removed in time. Any excess must be removed within 5–10 minutes with a Nanolex microfiber cloth. If the 10-minute time window is exceeded, the sealant will harden to the point where it can only be removed mechanically using abrasive polish. Nanolex Si3D Matte can be layered – additional layers of Nanolex Si3D Matte must be applied within 5-10 minutes of the previous layer. If this time window is exceeded, the next layer will be repelled by the previously applied layer.

Drying

The curing phase is 12 hours at 20°C. After this time, the coating is weatherproof. The vehicle should not be washed for 72 hours after sealing. After this period, the coating is weatherproof. Full curing is only completed after 7 days. Nanolex Si3D Matte can be cured thermally (e.g. with infrared rays). The curing time is 3-4 hours at 50°C 2 hours at 80°C. Your vehicle will still get dirty - but it is now much more difficult for the dirt to adhere and much easier for you to remove it. Cleaning the paintwork and rims with very little cleaner is often enough to remove the dirt. We therefore ask you to take full advantage of the benefits of Nanolex sealing in future, also with regard to the environmental impact of cleaners, and to avoid using large quantities of aggressive cleaners or similar products.

After a treatment

To ensure that your Nanolex sealant continues to shine and remains optimally protected, forget additional polishes! These impair the cleaning properties. Hand washing with Nanolex products is the gentlest method for your vehicle and avoids micro-scratches and paint damage that often occur in car washes with brushes. Simply use a high-pressure cleaner and a high-quality wash mitt for washing. Don't forget a microfiber cloth for drying!

For rim care, use a pH-neutral rim cleaner, for example Nanolex Wheel Cleaner & Iron Remover. This will protect both the rim surfaces and the sealant. Regular hand washing with Nanolex products is the best way to maintain the shine and protective effect of your sealant in the long term.
